But how do you think about this moment of transition in your life? How do you plan for a profoundly different future, one that you laid the foundation for during your life so far? Hosting the program online — using Zoom — allows us to build a cohort from around the country, even the world. We will consider an in-person meeting on the Union campus in New York City at the conclusion of the program in December We will look at subsidizing travel where appropriate.
We would require that all in-person attendees, at that time of the meeting, be fully vaccinated. If you are unable to travel, we will make zoom available where possible. Please indicate on your application whether you are open to travel. It will not affect consideration of your application but will give us information for planning purposes. I expect to maintain these friendships into the future.
Empowered by groundbreaking inquiry aligned with practical realism and a bias for action, Union is charting a profound new course for enduring social change. Participants in the Encore program at Union will become valuable members of this vibrant, growing, global community. While being positive throughout, I was gratified to see that it doesn't minimize the challenges either, and points out how an "encore" may be dramatic, but may also be simply a course correction or an add-on to what you do now. This book is easy to read and well-chunked.
The only downside for me, as a Canadian reader, is that the resources offered mainly organizations and websites are particular to the United States. That said, it is nevertheless useful as a jumping-off point to ask "Well, do we have something similar here in Canada?

I skimmed through most of it because I'm not quite there yet and she focuses a lot on people who are in their 50s and beyond who mainly want to get into non-profit work.
